UNDP Chernobyl recovery projects in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the Chornobyl Recovery and Development Programme (CRDP) provides advisory and capacity-building support to bring local authorities and communities together for joint recovery and development activities. CRDP assists communities in planning and executing projects that create jobs and meet priority needs. In particular, it supports community-based self-help initiatives (such as improving water and gas supply, building health clinics, and renovating schools and youth centres) and information provision on healthy lifestyles. Each community organization takes full responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of its projects. At the national level, CRDP also supports policy and institutional change aimed at encouraging a shift from extensive social benefit provision to more targeted assistance and promoting new livelihoods.
